타밀일람에서 가자까지의 킬링필드: 누구의 안보? 누구의 평화?

세기 초에 수십만 명의 사람들이 공중에서 폭격을 당하고, 육지에서 포격을 당하고, 바다에서 공격을 받았고, 식량 공급을 차단하고 약도 없이 굶어 죽게 내버려 두었습니다. 결국 7만 명이 넘는 사람들이 학살당하고 50만 명이 완전히 난민이 되었습니다. 오늘날 가자지구에서 벌어지고 있는 일은 2007~2009년 스리랑카의 엘람 타밀족을 상대로 벌어진 일입니다. 오늘날 이스라엘 국가를 지지하는 강대국들이 당시 스리랑카 국가를 지원했습니다. 우리는 이 학살을 '스리랑카 해법'이라고 부르는데, 이는 억압받는 민족인 엘람 타밀과 팔레스타인의 역사적 자유투쟁에 대한 세계 강대국들의 해법입니다. 하지만 이러한 전쟁은 평화와 안보를 위해 필요하다고 합니다. 누구의 평화, 누구의 평화일까요? 이것은 피를 흘리는 평화입니다. 이것은 민족과 땅을 파괴하는 안보입니다. 그렇다면 진정한 평화는 어디서 찾을 수 있을까요?

The Killing Fields from Tamil Eelam to Gaza: Whose Security? Whose Peace?
Lecture: Prof. Jude Lal Fernando, Director of Trinity Centre for Post-Conflict Justice, coordinator of the Peoples' Tribunal on Sri Lanka, editor of Resistance to Empire and Militarization
Just at the beginning of our century hundreds of thousands of people were bombed from air, shelled from land, attacked from the sea while starving them to death by blocking food supplies and letting them die without medicine. At the end, over 70,000 people were massacred and half a million totally displaced. What is unfolding in Gaza today, happened in 2007-2009 against the Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka. The same global powers who support the Israeli state today backed the Sri Lankan state then. We call this genocide 'The Sri Lankan Solution', the solution given by the global powers to the historic freedom struggles of the oppressed peoples; the Eelam Tamils, the Palestinians. But it is said that these wars are necessary for peace and security. Whose peace? Whose peace? This is the peace that bleeds. This is the security that destroys peoples and land. Where can I find true peace then?
